Bikaner: Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has landed in legal trouble as an FIR has been registered against him and two others in Rajasthan’s Bikaner over allegations related to the production of his upcoming film Love & War.
The complaint, filed by Prateek Raj Mathur, claims he was initially contracted as a line producer for the project but was later removed without payment. Circle Officer (Bikaner Sadar) Vishal Jangid confirmed that Mathur accused Bhansali and his associates, Arvind Gill and Utkarsh Bali, of terminating his services despite assigning him responsibilities for the film’s shoot, which included coordination with government departments.
Following a court order, the FIR was lodged on Monday at Bichhwal police station under charges of fraud, criminal conspiracy, and criminal intimidation. Mathur also alleged that when he went to meet the film’s team at a hotel, Bhansali and his associates misbehaved with him. Investigations into the matter are currently underway.
Love & War stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles, with a theatrical release scheduled for 2026. The film is reportedly set in the 1980s, featuring a love story against the backdrop of war, though the makers have neither confirmed nor denied these details.
This project marks Ranbir and Alia’s second collaboration with Bhansali after Saawariya and Gangubai Kathiawadi, respectively, while Vicky Kaushal joins the filmmaker for the first time. Additionally, the film reunites Ranbir and Vicky after Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju, and Vicky and Alia after Raazi.
Reports have also suggested that global star Priyanka Chopra may appear in a special song, although nothing has been officially confirmed.
