Thiruvananthapuram: A 45-year-old staffer of the Kerala Legislative Assembly tragically collapsed and died on stage while performing a dance during Onam celebrations on Monday. The event was organised by the Kerala Assembly, and the incident was captured on camera, with the video quickly going viral on social media.
The deceased has been identified as Junais, who worked as an assistant librarian at the Assembly and had previously served as the personal assistant to former MLA PV Anwar. After collapsing on stage, Junais was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but he could not be saved. He was a native of Wayanad, Kerala.
In the viral footage, Junais can be seen collapsing in the middle of his performance. Fellow performers immediately stopped dancing and rushed to assist him. The exact cause of his death has not been officially confirmed.
This tragic event follows similar incidents earlier this year. In February, a 23-year-old woman, Parnita Jain, collapsed and died while dancing at her cousin’s sangeet ceremony in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district, reportedly due to cardiac arrest. In April, a businessman suffered a massive heart attack and died on stage while dancing with his wife during their 25th wedding anniversary celebration in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
