Gurugram: Authorities have issued an orange alert in Gurugram as heavy rainfall continues to flood large parts of the city, causing severe waterlogging and traffic congestion. In response, corporate offices have been advised to allow employees to work from home, while schools have been directed to conduct online classes on September 2, 2025.
By Monday evening, the city had received over 100 millimetres of rainfall, leading to significant disruptions on major roads including National Highway-48.
Police Commissioner Vikas Arora and Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar inspected NH-48 and Sohna Road late Monday night to assess the situation. Visuals from Rajiv Chowk, Signature Tower Chowk Underpass, and Patel Nagar showed vehicles moving slowly through waterlogged streets, while pedestrians waded through water carrying their belongings.
Meanwhile, Delhi has also been affected by heavy rainfall, resulting in major traffic congestion, particularly at the Delhi-Gurugram border, and flooding concerns along the Yamuna River.
Flight operations in the capital have been disrupted due to waterlogging and low visibility, prompting airlines to issue travel advisories. Authorities in Delhi have ordered the closure of traffic and public movement on Loha Pul bridge from 5 pm on Tuesday following an advisory from the Central Water Commission (CWC).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts cloudy skies with light rain or thundershowers in Delhi from September 2 to 4. Moderate rain is expected at isolated places on Tuesday, with maximum temperatures between 30-32°C and minimums between 21-23°C, about 3-5°C below normal.
