Bihar Bandh On September 4: NDA Protests Abuses Directed At PM Modi And His Late Mother

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar has announced a state-wide bandh on September 4, from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, to protest against abusive remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a recent political rally.

The remarks, made by a supporter of the Congress-RJD alliance, went viral on social media, prompting outrage among NDA leaders and workers. Female members of the NDA, including those from the BJP and JDU, are expected to lead protest marches across the state.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi, addressing citizens through video conferencing after inaugurating the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, condemned the remarks, stating that abuses directed at his late mother were an insult to all mothers, sisters, and daughters in India.

“Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar… These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. These are insults to the mothers, sisters, and daughters of the country,” he said.

PM Modi also criticized the RJD and Congress, indirectly targeting leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, whom he referred to as ‘namdaars’. He said those born with a silver spoon cannot comprehend the struggles of poor mothers or the hardships faced by their children, as for them, political power is an inherited privilege.

“The struggles (Tapasya) of a poor mother, the suffering of her son—these young princes born into royal families cannot understand. The power of the country and Bihar seems like an inheritance of their family to them,” Modi remarked.

In addition, the Prime Minister appealed to women voters, lauding their role in repeatedly defeating the RJD in Bihar. He emphasized that women had played a crucial part in removing the party from power and warned that the opposition’s recent attacks were motivated by resentment toward women’s political influence.

“Bihar has come out of that darkness after a long battle. All you women of Bihar have played a very big role in removing RJD and defeating it repeatedly. That is why, be it RJD or Congress, these people are most upset with you women today. They are looking for an opportunity to take revenge,” he said.

Bihar is scheduled to go to the assembly polls in October-November 2025, with the ruling NDA seeking to retain power while the opposition Mahagathbandhan aims to unseat the Nitish Kumar government.
