Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, known for his straightforward remarks, sparked fresh debate with his comments on politics and leadership at an event in Nagpur. Gadkari said, “One who can best fool the people is the best leader,” explaining that while talking is easy, doing is difficult, and in his field, telling the truth wholeheartedly is often discouraged. He cited a Marathi saying, “Haose, navse, gavse” (everyone has their own styles and motives), emphasizing that leaders who can cleverly convince people often succeed.
Gadkari also noted that, as mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita, truth ultimately prevails. He warned against shortcuts in life, saying that while one can break rules or jump ahead to achieve quick success, a philosopher once said, “shortcuts cut you short.” Gadkari underscored the importance of values such as honesty, credibility, dedication, and truth, emphasizing that they remain essential for society.
