In a shocking case of domestic violence, police in Muzaffarnagar have arrested a 30-year-old woman, identified as Kavita, for allegedly strangling her husband Sanjay Kumar (40) to death while he was asleep. The crime reportedly took place on August 29, and the arrest was made on Saturday following a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Bhopal Singh.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Dinesh Chand Bhagel, Sanjay Kumar was killed by his second wife, Kavita, after growing tensions in their marriage. During interrogation, Kavita confessed to the crime, claiming she was frustrated with her husband’s repeated neglect and preference for his first wife, who resides in his native village of Tanda Majra.

Background of the Case

Sanjay Kumar had married Kavita in the year 2000, making it his second marriage. While his first wife continued to stay in his ancestral village, police sources indicate that Sanjay frequently maintained close ties with her, which allegedly caused Kavita to feel ignored and emotionally sidelined.

Investigators said that this prolonged sense of neglect ultimately drove Kavita to commit the crime. On the night of August 29, while Sanjay was sleeping, she allegedly strangled him to death. The matter came to light when the victim’s father informed the police, leading to Kavita’s immediate arrest.

Police Action and Investigation

The police have booked Kavita under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including charges of murder. Authorities are now conducting further investigation to gather evidence and statements from both families.

SHO Bhagel confirmed that the motive, as per Kavita’s own admission, was rooted in domestic discord arising from Sanjay’s continued involvement with his first wife.
