J&K: 10 Dead in Cloudburst and Landslide Incidents in Ramban and Reasi

At least 10 people lost their lives in two separate incidents of a cloudburst and a landslide in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. According to officials, three people were killed after a cloudburst triggered flash floods in Ramban district’s Rajgarh area, around 25 km from the district headquarters. Several houses were damaged, and two people remain missing as rescue operations continue.

In another tragic incident, a massive landslide struck Reasi district’s Badder village in Mahore, leaving seven members of a family feared dead. Authorities have launched search and rescue operations in both affected areas.

Heavy rainfall over the past few days has caused widespread devastation in Jammu and Kashmir, triggering floods and landslides. Reports indicate that over 45 people have died in rain-related incidents, most of them due to a landslide on the Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route. Around 35 people were killed when a major landslide occurred at Adhkunwari en route to the shrine on August 26.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inspected flood-hit areas along the Udhampur highway, while Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary supervised relief operations in affected regions. Meanwhile, over 12,000 people have been evacuated from flood-affected areas during ongoing rescue efforts.
