Jaipur: Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has applied for a pension from the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Secretariat as a former MLA. Dhankhar served as a Congress MLA representing the Kishangarh constituency from 1993 to 1998. He had been receiving the pension until 2019, which was suspended after his appointment as the Governor of West Bengal in July 2019.
Following the completion of his tenure as Vice President, Dhankhar has once again applied for the pension, and the Assembly Secretariat has begun processing his application. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vasudev Devnani confirmed that the application has been received and is under process.
According to Rajasthan Assembly rules, a former MLA receives a monthly pension of Rs 35,000, which increases by 20 percent after reaching the age of 70. Since Dhankhar is currently 75 years old, he is expected to receive a pension of Rs 42,000 per month, effective from the date of acceptance of his resignation from the Vice President post.
