Amit Shah Demands Rahul Gandhi’s Apology Over Abusive Slogans Against PM Modi in Bihar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his allies over abusive slogans targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Mahagathbandhan’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar’s Darbhanga. Speaking at an event in Assam, Shah condemned what he described as “politics of hatred” and called the incident “a new low in public life.”

The controversy erupted after a video went viral showing some party workers using expletives against the Prime Minister from the rally stage. The abuses reportedly also targeted Modi’s late mother, sparking widespread outrage. Although Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav were not present at the time, the incident has drawn criticism from across the political spectrum.

Amit Shah said the slogans crossed all limits of political decency and propriety. “The humble life of PM Modi’s mother, an epitome of an ideal Indian mother, was cursed and vilified. The country will not tolerate such a despicable act,” Shah stated. He termed the act as “offensive and regressive,” demanding Rahul Gandhi issue an immediate apology to both the Prime Minister and the nation.

“If you have any shame left, you must apologise to him and the nation,” Shah said in a strong message to the Congress MP from Rae Bareli. The BJP has accused the Congress of stooping to “ugly tactics” to target the Prime Minister, while the Congress called the controversy a diversionary tactic, noting that the individual who hurled the abuses has already been arrested by Bihar Police.

The incident has intensified the political clash between the BJP and Congress ahead of the upcoming elections, with both parties trading sharp accusations over political decorum and accountability.
