3 Dead,9 Injured After Four-Storey Building Collapses in Virar; Rescue Operation Continues

In a tragic incident near Mumbai, at least three people were killed and nine others sustained injuries when a section of a four-storey building collapsed in Virar East, Palghar district, during the late hours of Tuesday night. According to officials, around 8 to 10 people are still believed to be trapped under the debris as rescue operations continue.

The collapse occurred around 11:30 PM at Ramabai Apartment, located between Chamunda Nagar and Vijay Nagar on Narangi Road in Vasai taluka. The rear portion of the building gave way and fell onto the chawl situated below.

Emergency response teams from the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation Fire Department and two units of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are currently engaged in intensive rescue efforts. Authorities have confirmed that the building, which was around 10 years old, had earlier been declared extremely dangerous by the Municipal Corporation.

The District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) for Palghar stated that the situation remains critical, and all possible measures are being taken to rescue the trapped residents.
