16-Year-Old Arrested After Delhi Man Dragged to Death in Car Accident

New Delhi: A tragic road accident in north Delhi’s Samaypur Badli area left 32-year-old Sujeet Mandal dead after he was hit and dragged nearly 600 metres by a car. Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy who was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The accident occurred on Saturday evening around 7 p.m. Mandal, a resident of Raja Vihar who worked in a PVC pipe factory in the Badli Industrial Area, was walking along an internal road when the car struck him. He became trapped under the bonnet and was dragged almost 600 metres before his body was abandoned near the NDPL office, gate number 5.

Mandal sustained severe injuries and was declared dead after being taken to Burari Hospital. His brother-in-law, Jitesh, confirmed his identity and informed the police about his employment in the industrial area.

CCTV footage from the location revealed the horrifying incident, showing the car continuing to move while Mandal remained trapped. Witnesses noted that the driver paused momentarily but then fled the scene without offering assistance.

A passerby later discovered Mandal’s body and alerted the authorities. Investigators collected evidence, including blood samples and a pair of black slippers, and conducted inspections at both the collision site and the location where the body was left.

The vehicle was traced using its registration number, leading police to a house in Mondoli, Delhi, where it was revealed that a minor from Rohini had been driving. During questioning, the boy admitted he was returning from a mechanic’s shop and fled the scene out of fear of a crowd attack.

The juvenile has been presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, and a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered against him. The car has been seized, and the investigation continues.
