PM Modi Inaugurates Rs 5,400 Crore Development Projects After Grand Roadshow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated, laid the foundation, and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth a total of Rs 5,400 crore in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The event was held at Khodaldham ground following a grand 2-km-long roadshow from Haridarshan crossroads to Khodaldham in the Nikol area. PM Modi was received at Ahmedabad airport by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil. Thousands of people lined the route and enthusiastically welcomed the Prime Minister.

Among the projects inaugurated were multiple railway initiatives worth over Rs 1,400 crore, including the doubling of the 65 km Mahesana-Palanpur Rail Line worth Rs 530 crore, the gauge conversion of the 37 km Kalol-Kadi-Katosan Rail Line, and the 40 km Bechraji-Ranuj Rail Line valued at Rs 860 crore. These projects will enhance regional connectivity, improve commuter safety, and facilitate smoother travel for daily passengers, tourists, and businesses, thereby promoting regional economic integration.

PM Modi also flagged off a passenger train between Katosan Road and Sabarmati to improve access to religious destinations and boost grassroots economic activity. Additionally, a car-loaded freight train service from Bechraji will strengthen industrial connectivity and generate employment opportunities in Gujarat. Road infrastructure upgrades were also initiated, including widening of the Viramgam-Khudad-Rampura road, construction of six-lane vehicle underpasses on Ahmedabad-Mehsana-Palanpur road, and a railway overbridge on Ahmedabad-Viramgam road, aimed at improving traffic flow and transport efficiency.

 

In the power sector, PM Modi inaugurated projects under Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL) across Ahmedabad, Mehsana, and Gandhinagar, worth over Rs 1,000 crore, to modernize distribution networks, reduce losses, and enhance reliability during adverse weather conditions. Under PMAY (Urban), the Development of Slums at Sector-3 of Ramapir No Tekro was inaugurated, along with foundation stones for major road widening projects on the Sardar Patel Ring Road and key urban infrastructure projects to improve water and sewerage management systems.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for a new Stamps and Registration Building in Ahmedabad West and a State-Level Data Storage Centre at Gandhinagar, aimed at strengthening digital governance, secure data management, and efficient public service delivery across Gujarat.
