Monsoon Mayhem Grips India: Heavy Rain Lashes Delhi, IMD Issues Fresh Alerts

India continues to reel under the impact of intense monsoon showers, with several states witnessing heavy rainfall and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing fresh alerts. On Monday morning, Delhi-NCR woke up to persistent rain, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions across several areas. IMD has predicted light showers throughout the day and maintained a rain alert for the region.

Uttarakhand Weather Update: The IMD has issued an orange alert for multiple districts, including Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Mumbai Weather Update: The financial capital is expected to remain under cloudy skies with moderate showers, according to IMD’s forecast for Monday.

Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: A yellow alert has been issued, predicting rain in several parts of the hill state till August 25.

Uttar Pradesh Weather Update: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are likely in several districts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh, the weather office warned.

Madhya Pradesh Weather Update: IMD has sounded a heavy rainfall alert for Morena, Shajapur, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Ratlam, and Balaghat districts, while other regions may witness light showers or thunderstorms.

Rajasthan Weather Update: The Jaipur Meteorological Centre forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in multiple areas as the monsoon trough currently passes through the state. Flood-like conditions have been reported in southern and southeastern districts such as Kota, Bundi, Sawai Madhopur, and Tonk, while Jaipur city continues to face intense showers.

Meanwhile, the IMD cautioned that a fresh low-pressure area is likely to develop over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off Odisha-West Bengal coasts, around August 25, potentially bringing more intense rainfall in the coming days.
