In a chilling development in the Greater Noida dowry murder case, police have arrested the victim’s mother-in-law, marking the second arrest in the brutal killing of Nikki. The arrest comes after disturbing videos surfaced, showing the victim being assaulted before being set on fire.

According to police reports, Nikki was brutally attacked by her in-laws and later set ablaze, succumbing to her injuries at a Delhi hospital. Two videos related to the incident emerged after the case drew public attention. One of them, allegedly recorded by Nikki’s sister Kanchan—who is also married into the same family—shows Nikki’s husband Vipin and his mother assaulting her, with Vipin dragging her by the hair. Another video captures Nikki engulfed in flames while descending the stairs. Kanchan managed to record part of the assault before losing consciousness.

Following the incident, Vipin attempted to portray Nikki’s death as a suicide through emotional social media posts. However, he was arrested and later injured in a police encounter while trying to escape custody. Showing no remorse, Vipin reportedly claimed, “Fights between husband and wife are common,” hours after being shot in the leg.

Nikki’s family has alleged consistent harassment for dowry. Her mother revealed that Nikki had complained of abuse twice before being taken back to her in-laws’ home on promises of change. “We gave them a car, a motorcycle, and gold during the marriage and after our grandson was born, but he demanded more,” she said. The family continues to demand strict action against all accused involved in the crime.
