Greater Noida Dowry Murder Accused Vipin Bhati Expresses No Remorse, Claims Wife ‘Died on Her Own’

In a chilling development from Greater Noida, Vipin Bhati, accused of brutally murdering his wife Nikki over dowry disputes, has shown no remorse for his actions—claiming from his hospital bed that she “died on her own.”

Captured After Attempted Escape

Vipin was apprehended after allegedly assaulting Nikki and setting her ablaze in her in-laws’ home. Videos showing him dragging her by the hair and the victim’s limp descent down a staircase while engulfed in flames circulated widely. During transport as police sought to collect evidence, Vipin tried to snatch an officer’s pistol and flee; he was shot in the leg during the ensuing encounter and taken to the hospital.

Denial and Disturbing Statements

From the hospital, Vipin spoke to news agency ANI, stating, “I have no remorse. I haven’t killed her. She died on her own. Husbands and wives often have fights… it is very common”.  Despite the gravity of the charges, he insisted he was not responsible for Nikki’s death—a claim starkly contradicted by video evidence and eyewitness accounts.

Family Accusations and Trauma

Nikki’s family, particularly her sister Kanchan (married into the same family), has accused Vipin and his mother of subjecting both sisters to relentless dowry-related torture. Their alleged demand—a staggering ₹36 lakh—culminated in the horrific assault and arson. Kanchan recalled being slapped and seeing Nikki set ablaze with a lighter, in front of their children. Nikki’s six-year-old son, a witness, recounted poignantly: “They poured something on my mother, slapped her and set her ablaze using a lighter”.

Legal Action and Public Outcry

Authorities have filed an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder, criminal conspiracy, and voluntarily causing hurt. Meanwhile, distress and outrage have erupted in Sirsa village, where residents demand swift justice, chanting for retribution and accountability.
