Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) witnessed heavy rainfall on Saturday evening, leading the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert for several regions for the next three hours. The IMD shared an updated nowcast map on X, highlighting districts marked in red where heavy to moderate rainfall is expected. These include areas in Delhi-NCR, south Haryana, East Rajasthan, and North Gujarat.
Several localities in Delhi, such as Lajpat Nagar, RK Puram, Lodhi Road, and Mandir Marg, reported significant downpour during the evening hours. Meanwhile, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the national capital’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 98 at 8 am on August 23, placing it in the ‘satisfactory’ category.
