India’s shooting duo Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan clinched the gold medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Saturday. The Indian pair delivered a stunning performance, defeating China’s Dingke Lu and Xinlu Peng 17-11 in the final.
Although the Chinese pair started strong and led in the initial rounds, Babuta and Valarivan made a remarkable comeback after early struggles with shots of 9.5 and 10.1. Their consistent shooting in the later rounds helped them secure the top spot on the podium.
This victory marks Elavenil Valarivan’s second gold medal of the tournament, following her triumph in the women’s 10m air rifle event earlier. The win further cements India’s strong presence in the championship, showcasing the shooters’ resilience and skill under pressure.
