UP Hospital Horror: Father Carries Dead Newborn in Bag After Hospital Denies Treatment Over Money

A deeply disturbing incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri has sparked outrage across India after a viral video showed a heartbroken father carrying his deceased newborn in a bag to the District Magistrate’s office, alleging medical negligence at a private hospital.

The grieving father, Bipin Gupta, claimed that Goldar Hospital refused to treat his newborn due to the family’s inability to pay the required fees. Gupta stated that he was returning from Haridwar when he was informed that his wife had gone into labor and was in critical condition. His brother-in-law admitted her to Goldar Hospital, but the staff allegedly demanded money upfront.

“They told us clearly — if you have money, stay. If not, take her somewhere else,” Gupta recalled in front of reporters, breaking down in tears. “As my wife’s condition deteriorated, their demands kept rising. I had no money. They did nothing to help my baby. He died before my eyes.”

Tragically, the newborn passed away without receiving any medical attention. Left devastated, Gupta carried his infant son’s body in a bag and walked to the District Magistrate’s (DM) office. In an emotional plea captured on video, he said:

“Either bring my baby back to life or punish those responsible.”

He further revealed that his wife is unaware of the child’s death and continues to ask about the baby while recovering in another hospital. “How do I tell her the truth?” he asked, sobbing.

Swift Action from Authorities

The emotional video prompted an immediate response from district officials. Lakhimpur Kheri Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Santosh Gupta confirmed that an investigation had been launched.

“If medical negligence is established, strict action will follow,” he stated.

In a decisive move, the District Magistrate’s office ordered the immediate sealing of Goldar Hospital. All patients admitted there were shifted to the District Women’s Hospital for continued care. The DM also dispatched ADM AK Rastogi to oversee treatment arrangements for the mother and ensure proper medical attention.

“The district administration has sealed Goldar Hospital in response to the incident. Admitted patients have been relocated, and enhanced care has been arranged for the affected mother. We stand with the grieving family,” the DM’s office posted on social media platform X.

This heartbreaking case has reignited national conversations about medical ethics, access to healthcare, and the dire consequences of privatized medical negligence in India.
