In a tragic incident at Tarapur MIDC in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, four workers lost their lives and two others were left critically injured following a nitrogen gas leak at a pharmaceutical company. The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon at Medley Pharma, located in the Boisar industrial area, approximately 130 km from Mumbai.
According to Vivekanand Kadam, chief of Palghar district disaster management cell, the leak happened between 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm inside one of the company’s units, exposing the staff working in the area. Six workers were immediately rushed to the hospital after the incident. Sadly, four of them succumbed to the gas inhalation around 6:15 pm.
The remaining two workers are currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) at a local hospital and continue to receive treatment. Authorities have confirmed that all affected employees were evacuated from the plant and emergency services are investigating the cause of the leak.
