A 30-year-old man suspected of spying for Pakistan was arrested in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, marking the fourth such case in the region. The accused, identified as Jivan Khan from the Sankada area, was detained by Military Intelligence (MI) after he tried to enter the Army station on Tuesday, August 19. According to officials, Khan had previously worked at a restaurant located inside the military zone.
When MI personnel checked his mobile phone for suspicious activity, Khan was taken into custody and later handed over to Kotwali police. During preliminary questioning, he reportedly confessed to having relatives in Pakistan. Authorities have said that he will be produced before the Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC), where multiple security agencies will question him further.
This incident is the fourth case of suspected espionage in Jaisalmer. Earlier, on August 13, a contractual manager at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) guest house near Chandan Field Firing Range was arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan’s ISI. The accused, Mahendra Prasad from Uttarakhand’s Almora, was reportedly in contact with the Pakistani intelligence agency through social media and was passing on sensitive details regarding DRDO scientists and Army officers involved in missile and weapons testing at the firing range.
