Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was allegedly attacked on Wednesday during her regular public grievance session, known as ‘Jan Sunvai’, held at her official residence in the Civil Lines area of the capital. According to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a 35-year-old man was involved in the incident and has since been taken into custody by the Delhi Police. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the matter to determine the motive behind the attack.
The incident has drawn strong reactions from political leaders across party lines. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva condemned the assault on the Chief Minister, emphasizing the need for increased security. Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav also denounced the attack, labeling it as a serious lapse in the law and order situation in the capital. Speaking to ANI, Yadav questioned the safety of ordinary citizens if the Chief Minister herself is not secure. He further highlighted that the incident raises concerns over the safety of women in Delhi.
