Ukraine Security Guarantees Expected Within 10 Days After Trump-Zelensky Meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Tuesday that security guarantees for Ukraine are likely to be finalized within the next 10 days. The announcement came after his meetings with US President Donald Trump and European leaders in Washington.

Zelensky revealed during a press briefing that details of the guarantees would soon be formalized on paper, with partners currently working to “unpack” the proposals. He emphasized the significance of the United States taking an active role in coordinating and participating in these guarantees, calling it “a major step forward.”

Trump assured Zelensky that the US would help ensure Ukraine’s security as part of any future deal to end the ongoing war with Russia, though the exact scope of assistance remains unclear. Zelensky described his discussion with Trump as his “best” meeting so far.

The Ukrainian leader also signaled readiness for talks with Russia in any format, adding that territorial issues would be addressed directly between him and Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, no date has been set for such a meeting.

As part of the security package, Ukraine expects US military support, including aircraft and air defense systems, under a proposal worth $90 billion. Zelensky also confirmed agreements with the US to purchase Ukrainian drones once exports resume, marking another key step in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
