NDA Parliamentary Meeting: PM Modi Felicitates VP Candidate CP Radhakrishnan

The NDA Parliamentary party meeting commenced at the Parliament Library Building, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi felicitated CP Radhakrishnan, the alliance’s Vice-Presidential candidate. During the session, PM Modi also highlighted the government’s decision to keep the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, stating that the agreement was signed without Parliament’s approval.

The meeting was attended by key leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Jitendra Singh, and MPs like Sambit Patra and Subhash Barala. PM Modi addressed both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, focusing on legislative priorities and the upcoming VP election.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju expressed optimism that all political parties would support the NDA nominee, aiming for an unopposed election. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been appointed as the campaign manager, while Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will serve as the election agent.

CP Radhakrishnan will file his nomination on August 20 at 11 AM, ahead of the September 9 Vice Presidential election, which was triggered by the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar on the first day of the Monsoon Session. The election will be conducted under Articles 64 to 68 of the Constitution using the proportional representation system and secret ballot.

The BJP has directed all its MPs to be present in Delhi between September 6 and 9 for a workshop at the party headquarters.
