Heavy Rains Disrupt Mumbai for Third Day, Schools Shut Amid Waterlogging

Mumbai continued to reel under heavy rainfall for the third consecutive day on Monday, causing severe waterlogging and massive traffic jams across the city. The relentless downpour forced the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to declare a holiday for all schools and colleges as a safety measure.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heavy to very heavy rainfall for Mumbai and adjoining districts, including Palghar, Thane, and Raigad, for today and the coming days. Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors unless necessary and remain cautious due to the risk of flooding.

The BMC has also issued an emergency helpline number—916—for those in need of assistance. Meanwhile, visuals from different parts of Mumbai show submerged roads, stranded vehicles, and people wading through knee-deep water, highlighting the city’s struggle with monsoon fury.
