The government is set to implement a 100-day transformation agenda aimed at accelerating India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced on Monday at the second Lokmat Global Economic Convention.
Goyal said the agenda will align with the ‘Panch Prans’ (Five Pledges) outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 15, which emphasize erasing the colonial mindset, honoring India’s rich heritage, ensuring national unity, and driving progress to achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047. “No power on earth can stop India from becoming a developed nation,” Goyal asserted, highlighting the role of 140 crore Indians working together as one team.
He emphasized that Maharashtra, India’s largest state economy, continues to play a pivotal role in the nation’s growth story. Goyal noted the growing global confidence in India’s economic resilience, with experts predicting that the country is on track to become one of the most attractive consumer markets and investment destinations worldwide.
The minister underlined the government’s ongoing reforms to improve ease of living and ease of doing business through deregulation, reducing compliance burdens, and creating a supportive ecosystem for fearless investments. He also highlighted India’s recent trade achievements, including free trade agreements with the UAE, Mauritius, the EFTA nations (Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland), and the United Kingdom, while ensuring the protection of key domestic sectors such as dairy and boosting opportunities for MSMEs, farmers, and animal husbandry.
Goyal reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s call to be “vocal for local,” stressing the importance of process transformation, governance reforms, and global competitiveness through quality and cost efficiency. He affirmed that the foundation of a ‘Vikshit Bharat’ (Developed India) is ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India).
The minister also shared on X that he recently met with senior officials to brainstorm new reforms and initiatives under this 100-day transformation plan.
