A tragic shooting at a Brooklyn restaurant in Crown Heights early Sunday claimed three lives and left eight others injured, according to the New York Post. The incident occurred just before 3:30 a.m. at the Taste of the City Lounge on Franklin Avenue, confirmed NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch during a press briefing.
The victims included three men aged 27, 35, and one whose age remains unknown. The injured individuals were rushed to nearby hospitals, though their conditions have not yet been disclosed.
Authorities reported that multiple shooters opened fire inside the restaurant, but no suspects have been identified, and descriptions have not been released. Commissioner Tisch remarked, “We have the lowest number of shooting incidents and victims seven months into the year on record for New York City. An event like this is an anomaly and a terrible tragedy.”
Investigators recovered at least 36 shell casings from the scene. Videos circulating on social media show officers standing amid shattered glass and blood inside the venue.
Taste of the City Lounge, which opened in 2022, is a popular spot offering Caribbean and American cuisine, a full bar, and live DJs. It is located less than half a mile from the Brooklyn Museum and had closed at 3 a.m., shortly before the shooting took place.
This incident follows another shooting earlier in the week at Times Square, where three people were injured and a teenage suspect was arrested.
