Rahul Gandhi to Launch ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar from August 17

Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to launch the ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar on Sunday, August 17, to highlight the alleged denial of voting rights during the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in the state. Senior Congress leader Akhilesh Prasad Singh announced that Gandhi will flag off the yatra from Sasaram and will stay in Bihar for nearly 15 days, concluding with a grand rally in Patna on September 1.

The yatra will cover 25 districts and include three break days on August 20, 25, and 31. Singh confirmed that Tejashwi Yadav and other INDIA bloc allies, including Left parties, will join Gandhi during the yatra. The final rally in Patna will aim to unite leaders from like-minded parties to strengthen the opposition ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

Singh criticized the Election Commission for ignoring pleas for discussion in Parliament on the issue of electoral roll revisions, alleging that lakhs of names have been removed. He claimed that only BJP and JD(U) have remained silent while other parties, including NDA ally Chandrababu Naidu, have expressed concerns. Singh further asserted that the current Nitish Kumar-led government is on its way out as people are dissatisfied with the regime.

Meanwhile, RJD has launched a campaign song featuring Tejashwi Yadav alongside Rahul Gandhi, portraying their joint resolve to protect voting rights and uphold democratic values. The yatra is expected to generate momentum for the INDIA bloc ahead of Bihar elections.
