Indian cricket fans witnessed a rare reunion of two legends as MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir were seen together at a high-profile wedding ceremony. The event, held for Utkarsh Sanghvi, the brother of Gujarat’s Minister of State Harsh Sanghvi, turned into a star-studded affair, featuring some of the biggest names in Indian cricket.
The picture of Dhoni and Gambhir engaged in conversation quickly went viral on social media, evoking nostalgia among fans. Dhoni attended the wedding with his wife, Sakshi Dhoni, and the couple was also photographed together at the grand celebration.
Apart from Dhoni and Gambhir, several other cricket stars graced the occasion, including Rohit Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Parthiv Patel, and Tilak Varma. Although Rohit Sharma was present, he was not seen alongside Dhoni or Gambhir in any pictures.
For fans, this was a rare sighting of Dhoni, who has kept a low profile since retiring from international cricket in 2019. His only active involvement in cricket has been through the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he captained the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The 2025 IPL season, however, was disappointing for Dhoni, as CSK finished at the bottom of the table for the first time ever. He had to step in as captain mid-season after Ruturaj Gaikwad was injured.
As of now, Dhoni’s participation in IPL 2026 remains uncertain, with the 44-year-old emphasizing that it will depend on his fitness.
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir is enjoying a successful stint as the head coach of Team India, having led the team to victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He now shifts focus to the Asia Cup 2025 following a 2-2 Test series draw against England.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma, India’s current ODI captain, is expected to return to action in October for the upcoming tour of Australia, where India will play three ODIs.
