A tragic hit-and-run incident in Delhi’s Moti Nagar claimed the life of a 40-year-old man late on Friday night after an SUV rammed his bike from behind. The victim, identified as Bikshu Lal, was reportedly standing with his bike on the roadside when the speeding SUV hit him, causing severe injuries that led to his instant death.

According to the Delhi Police, the impact was so strong that the SUV mounted the footpath, collided with an electric pole, and then hit a stone bench before halting a few meters ahead. The bike was completely mangled in the crash and has been taken to the Moti Nagar Police Station as evidence.

Bikshu Lal’s brother, Nomi Lal, told ANI that the family grew worried after repeated calls to him went unanswered through the night. “He left home last night telling his son he would return in 10 minutes. In the morning, we learned he had been hit so badly that his bike was destroyed and he suffered major chest injuries,” he said. The grieving family has demanded strict action against the culprit, as Bikshu Lal was the sole breadwinner for his five children.

Police have launched an investigation and are scanning nearby CCTV footage to determine the speed of the SUV. The accused, who was driving a Thar, fled immediately after the crash. “Legal action is underway, and multiple teams have been formed to apprehend the driver,” a senior police officer confirmed.
