4 Pilgrims Killed, 25 Injured as Pickup Truck Falls into Gorge in Himachal’s Kangra

A tragic road accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district claimed the lives of four pilgrims and left around 25 others injured on Friday. The incident took place near Jadrangal on the Chamunda-Dharamshala road, close to Ikku Mod, when a pickup truck carrying devotees reportedly lost control and plunged into a deep gorge. The victims were returning from the Mata Chamunda Devi temple and were on their way back to Moga in Punjab.

According to the police, one woman died on the spot, while others sustained severe injuries. The deceased have been identified as Kiran (35), Sukhjinder Singh (35), Jagsir Singh (38), and Paramjeet Kaur (35), all residents of Bhagike village in Punjab’s Moga district.

The injured were immediately rushed to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital in Tanda, where three more victims succumbed to injuries during treatment. Others are currently undergoing medical care. Police have registered a case, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.

Similar Accident in Rajasthan

In a separate incident on August 13, a pickup van collided with a parked truck in Rajasthan’s Dausa district, killing 11 people from Uttar Pradesh, including seven children, and injuring eight others. The accident occurred around 4 am on the Manoharpur highway when the passengers were returning to Etah after visiting Khatu Shyam and Salasar Balaji temples. Among the deceased were children aged between 1 and 9, and women aged 20 to 32. One of the injured remains in critical condition.
