One Dead, Over 10 Injured in Suspected Gas Cylinder Blast in Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden

A tragic incident occurred in Bengaluru’s Wilson Garden area on Friday morning when a powerful explosion, suspected to have been caused by a gas cylinder, claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy and left more than 10 people injured. The blast happened around 8 a.m. in the densely populated Chinnaianapalya locality, causing significant destruction to over 10 asbestos-roofed houses.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Mubarak Ulla, a resident of Chinnaianapalya. Among the injured are his mother and sister, who are in critical condition. All victims have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Victoria Hospital, and a private hospital in the vicinity.

Preliminary reports suggest that the cylinder exploded in the residence of 35-year-old Kasturamma, who is currently undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital. Locals managed to rescue a woman trapped under the debris and rushed her to the hospital.

Chickpet MLA Uday Garudachar, who visited the site, confirmed that the police suspect a gas cylinder blast as the cause of the explosion. However, senior police officers on the scene are investigating if there could be any other reason behind the blast. Fire department teams and Adugodi police have been deployed to manage the situation and carry out further inquiries.
