India Hits Back at Pakistan Over Threats, Warns of ‘Severe Consequences’ for Misadventures

India issued a stern response to recent provocative remarks made by Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir, strongly condemning the hostile rhetoric as a diversionary tactic aimed at masking Islamabad’s internal failures. Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal criticized the recurring pattern of “reckless, war-mongering, and hateful” comments from the Pakistani leadership.

“These are well-worn tactics designed to stir anti-India sentiments and distract from the country’s mounting domestic issues,” Jaiswal said, adding that any misadventure by Pakistan would face “painful consequences,” referencing the May standoff in which India retaliated decisively to drone and missile strikes targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The MEA also condemned General Munir’s controversial remarks made during his recent visit to the United States, where he allegedly warned that Pakistan could “take half the world down” in the event of an existential threat from India. New Delhi denounced this as “irresponsible nuclear sabre-rattling,” warning that such threats pose a danger to both regional stability and global peace.

Highlighting concerns over Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, India accused the country’s military establishment of operating closely with terrorist organizations and criticized Munir for issuing inflammatory statements while on the soil of a friendly third nation.

In response, Pakistan’s foreign ministry dismissed India’s allegations and reiterated that the country’s nuclear policy remains under civilian oversight. It claimed that Pakistan has always maintained “discipline and restraint” in matters of strategic importance, warning that any Indian aggression would receive a swift and equivalent reply.

Further reports suggested that during a private gathering in the US, Munir even issued a veiled threat to strike Mukesh Ambani’s Jamnagar refinery, citing online content shared during the latest round of hostilities.
