The Indian Olympic Association has approved India’s bid to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, with Ahmedabad suggested as the venue if the bid is successful.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) endorsed the proposal during its Special General Assembly, confirming that the government will cover the entire cost of hosting the event.
The final bid documents must be submitted by August 31, and India has already submitted its Expression of Interest. With Canada retracting its bid, India’s prospects of securing the event have improved.
In preparation, Commonwealth Sport’s Director of Games, Darren Hall, recently visited Ahmedabad to evaluate potential venues and engaged in discussions with officials from the Gujarat government. Another significant delegation from Commonwealth Sport is anticipated to visit the city later this month.
