A video showing a group of people using soap and shampoo while bathing in a lake in Brampton, Canada, has sparked widespread backlash online. The clip, shared on X (formerly Twitter), shows two couples using cleansing products in the natural waterbody, an act that locals and environmentalists have condemned as polluting and irresponsible.

The video’s caption reads:

“Canada’s beaches are turning to baths for foreigners. Canada’s transformation to a 3rd world country is happening daily.”

Online reactions quickly turned critical, with many users expressing concern over the harmful effects on aquatic life and demanding action from local authorities.

“I thought it was forbidden to do that. Soap is polluting the water,” one user wrote.
Another added, “That can’t be good for the fish and other water creatures.”
A third stated, “Using soap in natural water bodies can disrupt the ecosystem and endanger aquatic life.”

One particularly angry user posted:

“Our waters are not your bathtub. We swim in these lakes. @CityBrampton must take action. This is unacceptable!”

Accusations of Racism Spark Debate

Many internet users speculated that the individuals involved were Indian, which led to a new wave of controversy. Some commenters called out the racial undertones of the original post and others defending the lake.

“You want to hate on them because you’re a racist? Fine, own that,” one user replied.
“Don’t dress it up as environmental concern when it’s clearly rooted in xenophobia.”

It remains unclear whether the individuals were Indian, as Inside Media Network could not independently verify their identity.

Environmental Concerns at the Forefront

Environmental experts have long warned against the use of soap or cleansing agents in natural water bodies, highlighting their impact on water quality, aquatic ecosystems, and human health. Many local municipalities across Canada have laws prohibiting such activities.
