Ahmedabad Traffic Police reported that two individuals from Jamalpur lost their lives after their scooter was struck by a speeding vehicle near the Jhansi Ki Rani BRTS bus stand in Nehrunagar during the early hours of Monday.
As per police information, the accident took place around 1:30 am on August 11, when Akram Altafbhai Qureshi, 22, and Ashfaq Jafarbhai Ajmeri, 35, were riding towards Shivranjani on a Honda Activa with the registration number GJ01PX9355. As they neared the BRTS bus stand, a car with a GJ27 registration number, allegedly driven at high speed and recklessly from behind, collided with their scooter, resulting in both men being thrown onto the roadway.
Akram was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. Ashfaq, who sustained critical injuries, was taken to Sola Civil Hospital, where, according to the attending physician, he passed away during treatment at 5:20 am.
Authorities stated that inquest proceedings were initiated, and the bodies were dispatched for post-mortem examination. CCTV footage from the area is currently under review to determine the sequence of events. An FIR is anticipated to be lodged against the driver on charges of reckless and negligent driving resulting in death.
