Indian Railways cancels several trains after two goods trains derail in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: The Indian Railways has cancelled multiple trains following the derailment of two goods trains in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharswan district on Saturday, as reported by officials.

The incident occurred when the two goods trains were passing each other in opposite directions between the Chandil and Nimdih stations in Jharkhand, according to a SER official. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the derailments, the official stated.

According to initial reports, several carriages from one of the goods trains derailed and collided with the middle section of the train traveling in the opposite direction within the double-line area, causing some of its wagons to derail as well.

Derailment significantly disrupted train operations
The derailments early Saturday morning had a significant impact on train operations in the Chandil-Gunda Bihar section of the Adra division, as noted by the SER official.

Train services on both the up and down tracks from Chandil have been affected due to the derailment, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Adra Division) Vikash Kumar informed.

The SER official mentioned that efforts are underway to restore train services in the affected section as soon as possible. Additionally, several express and passenger trains have been diverted or short-terminated, he added.

List of cancelled trains
Among the express trains cancelled due to the accident are the 20897/20898 Howrah-Ranchi-Howrah Vande Bharat express, the 20894 Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat express, the 18183 Tatanagar-Buxar express, the 13301/13302 Dhanbad-Tatanagar-Dhanbad express, and the 28181/28182 Tatanagar-Katihar-Tatanagar express, he stated.

The Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani express (via Sambalpur) has been rerouted via Jharsguda-Rourkela-Nuagaon-Hatia-Bokaro Steel City-Rajabera, while the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Purushottam Express will be diverted via Hijili-Modinagar-Adra-Bhojudih-Gomoh, it was reported.

Three passenger MEMU services, including Tata-Asansol and Tata-Hatia, will be cancelled for the day.

The LTT-Howrah Express, which is currently stranded between Chandil and Kandra, will be short-terminated and rerouted through Tata, Kharagpur, and Howrah, according to the statement.
