Srinagar: Two soldiers from the army lost their lives while two others sustained injuries as the gunfire between terrorists and security forces persisted throughout the night, marking the ninth day of the confrontation in the Akhal forest region of Kulgam district in South Kashmir.
According to official sources, four army personnel were injured during a fierce exchange of fire with terrorists late last night. Unfortunately, two of the four injured soldiers later died, as reported by the news agency.
It is noteworthy that this operation has become the longest ongoing mission in the Valley, now entering its ninth day. On the initial night of the gunfight, one terrorist was killed, and four army soldiers were injured.
Officials indicated that due to the vast and dense nature of the forest area, the operation could be extended.
