The Income Tax Department has granted the PAN 2.0 Project to M/s LTIMindtree Limited

In a significant effort to enhance taxpayer services, the Income Tax Department has entrusted the PAN 2.0 Project to the winning bidder, M/s LTIMindtree Limited. This initiative, which received prior approval from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), is scheduled to launch within the next 18 months.

The PAN 2.0 Project aims to establish a contemporary, user-friendly, and efficient system for managing all aspects related to PAN (Permanent Account Number) and TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number). It will function as a comprehensive platform for services including the allotment of PAN/TAN, updates and corrections, Aadhaar-PAN linking, re-issuance of PAN, online PAN validation, and more.

The new system is crafted to enhance the quality of service provided to citizens by leveraging the latest technologies to ensure quicker delivery and improved grievance resolution. Currently, many taxpayers encounter delays and confusion when navigating various platforms for PAN and TAN-related services. PAN 2.0 seeks to address this by consolidating all services into a single, user-friendly digital interface.

With LTIMindtree at the helm of the project, the Income Tax Department aspires to deliver a more transparent, efficient, and seamless experience for taxpayers nationwide. Once operational, PAN 2.0 is anticipated to play a pivotal role in bolstering India’s digital governance and making tax services more accessible to everyone.
