Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Kartavya Bhavan at Kartavya Path, representing a pivotal moment in the transformation of India’s administration.
The newly built Kartavya Bhavan-03 is the first among several Common Central Secretariat buildings planned as part of the Central Vista redevelopment initiative.
Covering around 1.5 lakh square meters, this modern complex will accommodate essential ministries such as Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, MSME, DoPT, Petroleum & Natural Gas, and the Principal Scientific Adviser. It is designed to promote collaboration among ministries, aiming to enhance governance and expedite policy implementation.
Later this evening, the Prime Minister is set to speak at a public event at Kartavya Path, emphasizing the significance of the building in the modernization of India’s bureaucratic framework.
Kartavya Bhavan features advanced technology and sustainable elements, including rooftop solar panels, rainwater harvesting, zero-discharge waste management, and energy-efficient systems. With a goal of achieving a GRIHA-4 rating, the building stands as a model of eco-friendly governance.
By replacing outdated structures like Shastri Bhawan and Krishi Bhawan, the new facility is expected to boost productivity, lower maintenance expenses, and improve employee welfare. It also demonstrates the government’s dedication to a nimble, responsive, and environmentally sustainable administration.
