Narowal: A tragic incident took place near Ahmedabad Town on Tuesday when a speeding bus fell into a pond, resulting in the deaths of two passengers and injuring 13 others, as reported by Dawn.

The bus was traveling from Gujranwala to Zafarwal when the driver allegedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn and plunge into a roadside pond. Many passengers, including women and children, found themselves trapped inside the submerged bus.

Rescue 1122 teams, under the leadership of District Emergency Officer Engineer Muhammad Aurangzeb, quickly mobilized to the scene to initiate a rescue operation. The rescuers worked diligently to recover the bodies of two passengers, Sohaib (30) and Sadia Bibi (38), while the injured were extricated and given first aid before being taken to a hospital.

Among the injured passengers were Zarqa (13), Ali Raza (23), Fatima (5), and others. Eyewitnesses Tufail and Nasir Hussain attributed the accident to the bus’s excessive speed and the poor state of the road, according to Dawn.

As per sources from Rescue 1122, the condition of two of the injured passengers is reported to be critical.

In another incident, a woman lost her life and eight other family members sustained injuries when a speeding motorcycle-rickshaw collided with a parked trailer in Sheikhupura.

Rana Haroon Ali, spokesperson for Rescue 1122 in Sheikhupura, stated that a rickshaw traveling from Farooqabad to Lahore crashed into a trailer parked in front of City Centre, Kot Abdul Malik on Lahore Road.

He mentioned that upon receiving the call, a rescue team promptly arrived at the location and commenced operations. He confirmed that a woman, identified as Parveen Bibi (55), died at the scene, while eight other family members were injured in the incident.
