Jalpaiguri: On Tuesday, the Border Security Force (BSF) stationed at Fulbari in the Siliguri Sector of North Bengal apprehended a Bangladeshi national from Rangpur while he was illegally crossing the international border.
As per an official statement, the individual from Bangladesh was attempting to enter the Indian territory unlawfully. Officials reported that the person was concealed beneath a truck registered in Bhutan, which was making its way into India from Bangladesh.
At approximately 1010 hours, the personnel of BSF’s Integrated Check Post (ICP) detained the Bangladeshi national along with the truck driver. The driver has also been taken into custody along with the vehicle, as stated by officials. An investigation is currently ongoing.
Earlier this week, the vigilant troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted several cross-border smuggling attempts along the Punjab border, resulting in the arrest of two narco-smugglers in Tarn Taran and the recovery of multiple drones and heroin shipments in different incidents.
In the first incident on Sunday morning, alert BSF personnel initiated a search operation after detecting drone activity near the village of Kalsian in Tarn Taran. They successfully apprehended two smugglers who were hiding in a paddy field. Following their disclosure, the troops recovered one packet of heroin (gross weight: 610 grams) from a nearby irrigated field. The heroin packet was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, suggesting it was dropped by a drone.
In another incident on Saturday, acting on specific intelligence, BSF troops seized a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone from a farming field close to the village of Barreke in the Ferozepur district.
