Hindus Can Never Be Terrorists, Says Amit Shah in Rajya Sabha

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday sparked a heated debate in Parliament by declaring that “Hindus can never be terrorists.” Speaking during a special discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Rajya Sabha, Shah accused the Congress of spreading false narratives and appeasement politics that, according to him, have harmed the country’s unity and security.

Shah Counters Terrorism Narratives

Rejecting allegations that link the Hindu community to terrorism, Shah asserted:

“This country has suffered because of such false narratives, often fueled by appeasement politics. I say this with pride – no Hindu can ever be a terrorist.”

Attack on Congress Over Batla House Case

Recalling the Batla House encounter, Shah lambasted the Congress, stating:

“Sonia Gandhi cried when terrorists were gunned down in Batla House. Today they ask me where the terrorists are – I ask them, where were you when terrorists escaped freely under your rule?”

‘BJP Responds with BrahMos, Not Dossiers’

Shah contrasted the BJP government’s policies with that of the Congress, emphasizing a tougher stance on terrorism.

“Had Congress been in power, they would’ve sent dossiers to Pakistan. Today, under Prime Minister Modi, we respond with BrahMos missiles,” he said, receiving applause from BJP MPs.

Criticism of Congress’s Historical Decisions

The Home Minister also revisited controversial historical episodes, criticizing Congress for:

  • The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit post-26/11, which he called the “Balochistan blunder,”
  • Allowing China to take Indian territory after the 1962 war,
  • Rejecting the US offer to make India a permanent member of the UN Security Council,
  • Signing the Partition agreement, which he said continues to hurt India today.

Operation Sindoor and Policy Shifts

Shah used the discussion on Operation Sindoor to underline the Modi government’s uncompromising approach to national security. He declared that under Modi, “there will be no talks until terrorism ends.”

Political Fallout

The Congress hit back, accusing Shah of using Parliament to push divisive rhetoric. However, BJP leaders hailed his remarks as a strong assertion of national pride and security policy. The debate is expected to intensify as both parties prepare for upcoming state elections.
