Residents of a multi-storey building in Satya Vihar, Bhubaneswar, were engulfed in panic earlier today when a fire broke out, leading to prompt action from the Fire Services department.
Reports indicate that the fire started in a three-storey building that accommodates multiple tenant families. Initial investigations suggest that the cause may be linked to an electrical short circuit or an unattended diya (lamp) in the worship room, although authorities have yet to verify the precise source.
Firefighters from the Mancheswar unit arrived swiftly and managed to extinguish the flames before they could spread further.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities. Nonetheless, this incident has sparked concerns about fire safety measures in densely populated residential areas throughout the city. An official investigation is currently in progress to evaluate damages and determine the exact cause.
Authorities have called on property owners to perform regular electrical inspections and adhere to fire safety regulations to avert such incidents in the future.
