In July 2024, actress Richa Chadha welcomed her daughter Zuneyra, feeling both overwhelming joy and unexpected anxiety regarding parenthood and the current state of the world. Initially making light of the situation by joking about needing a gun for protection, she quickly decided to raise her daughter to be resilient.
During an interview with Lily Singh, Richa Chadha confessed that her first reaction to becoming a mother was one of fear. She pondered, “I was a little bit afraid. With climate change, genocide, and so much chaos in the world, is having a child even a good idea?”
She reflected on how motherhood drastically changed her previously independent lifestyle, as caring for a baby entails significant responsibility. Speaking about the challenge of being solely accountable for her child’s nourishment during the first six months, she described it as “a big commitment,” adding, “My initial response was fear. I wondered, oh my god, is my life over?”
Richa’s initial anxiety transformed into determination upon discovering she was having a daughter. She humorously remarked, “I thought, ‘We live in India, I need to buy a gun,’” revealing her protective instincts. However, she soon adjusted her viewpoint, stating, “No, we’ll see. We’ll raise her to be strong like me.”
Recently, the ‘Fukrey’ actress celebrated her daughter Zuneyra’s first birthday, and Richa shared a touching Instagram reel that highlighted treasured moments from her pregnancy and the early days of motherhood, encapsulating the emotions of her transformative journey.
