A sexual assault case was filed on Sunday against Pratik Chauhan, the son of BJP MLA Prabhu Chauhan, following a complaint made at the Bidar Women’s Police Station, according to police sources.

The FIR states that the accused is alleged to have repeatedly raped the victim between December 25, 2023, and March 27, 2024, after promising to marry her and getting engaged.

The victim, a 25-year-old woman from Maharashtra, claimed she was misled into believing that Pratik Chauhan intended to marry her.

She stated that their relationship began approximately two years ago, with Pratik Chauhan initiating regular communication and eventually assuring her of marriage.

Based on this promise, he allegedly took her to Bengaluru in September 2023, where he committed the first assault in a hotel room.

The engagement took place on December 25, 2023, at the accused’s home in Ghamsubai Bonthi Tanda, Aurad taluk, Bidar, in the presence of family members.

However, despite the victim’s family’s repeated requests, no wedding date was set, as alleged by the complainant, who added that she was reportedly taken to various locations, including Latur and Shirdi, under the guise of travel and religious visits, during which she was allegedly sexually assaulted multiple times.

The complaint also claims that on one occasion, after pressuring her to demonstrate her love, the accused forced the victim to inflict a wound on her forearm.

When she hesitated, he allegedly took the blade and inflicted a deep cut on her himself. The situation came to light after the woman was taken to a hospital in Udgir for treatment.

The woman’s family’s attempts to finalize the marriage were reportedly met with outright refusal.

The complainant stated that on July 5, 2025, when her family visited the residence of the accused to inquire about a wedding date, both Pratik Chouhan and his father reportedly declined and told them to proceed as they wished.
