Anup Jalota Claims Bigg Boss 12 Romance With Jasleen Matharu Was Scripted: “We Barely Knew Each Other”

Veteran singer Anup Jalota has finally opened up about his controversial appearance on Bigg Boss 12 alongside Jasleen Matharu, revealing that the much-hyped romance between them was far from reality. In a recent interview with The Lallantop, Jalota stated that the relationship portrayed on the show was scripted and that he was caught completely off guard by the narrative.

Jalota explained that Jasleen had approached him a few times for singing lessons and had once shared that she received an offer to participate in Bigg Boss. He encouraged her to take the opportunity. Later, her father convinced Jalota to join the show under the unique-pair format required by the producers. Jalota agreed on the condition that they would enter as guru and shishya (teacher and student), not as a couple.

However, things took a dramatic turn on the Bigg Boss stage. “I introduced her to Salman Khan as my student,” said Jalota. “But when Salman asked her if she was my disciple, she claimed we were in a relationship for three years. I was shocked. That never happened — we hardly knew each other.”

Jalota suspects that the move may have been orchestrated by the Bigg Boss production team for dramatic effect. “Someone must have asked her to say that — maybe even the Bigg Boss team. I never confronted her. I realized it was a game, and perhaps she stood to benefit from it, which she did.”

After spending nearly 1.5 months in the house, Jalota addressed the rumors during a press conference held with Jasleen’s father. “I told the media that I would do her kanyadaan at her wedding. That put an end to all the speculation,” he said.

He also clarified that there was no personal or professional relationship between them after the show. “We were never seen at events, movies, vacations, or even concerts together. Everything faded away. I haven’t spoken to her since Bigg Boss — only to her father occasionally.”

While their entry remains one of the most sensational moments in Bigg Boss history, Anup Jalota insists it was a misunderstanding turned media circus, not a romantic truth.
