Chandigarh: AAP leader Anmol Gagan Maan announced her resignation from the Punjab Assembly on Sunday, stating her decision to exit politics.

The MLA representing the Kharar constituency submitted her resignation to Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my departure from politics. I request that my resignation from the MLA position be accepted by the Speaker.

Sanjay Singh states that AAP is no longer part of I.N.D.I.A.

“I extend my best wishes to the party. I trust that the Punjab government will meet the expectations of its citizens,” Maan expressed in a post on X in Punjabi.

The singer-turned-politician was elected from the Kharar assembly seat during the 2022 Punjab assembly elections.

She also served as a minister, overseeing the portfolios of tourism and culture, investment promotion, labor, and hospitality. However, last year, the Bhagwant Mann government removed four ministers, including Maan, from the Cabinet.

As a singer, she is recognized for her popular songs such as Suit, Ghaint Purpose, and Sherni.
