The era of seeking revenge on Bihar: PM’s dual assault on RJD & Congress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the RJD of seizing land from the impoverished before offering them employment during its rule, referencing the notorious land-for-jobs ‘scam’ in which Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members have been implicated.

While addressing the crowd in Motihari in Bhojpuri during his sixth visit to election-bound Bihar this year, the Prime Minister emphasized development while criticizing the RJD and Congress for “exploiting the poor”.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated several development initiatives valued at over Rs 7,200 crore for the state and launched four new Amrit Bharat Express trains.

Introducing a new slogan, ‘Banayenge naya Bihar, phir ekbaar NDA sarkar’, PM Modi remarked, “The RJD is incapable of providing jobs to the youth. It seized the land of the underprivileged before offering them employment.”

This case relates to job appointments in the Railways during Lalu Prasad’s time as Railways minister. The CBI has claimed that these appointments were allegedly exchanged for land parcels.

Stating that Bihar is progressing rapidly due to the “double-engine government”, the Prime Minister asserted that the state received a meager Rs 2 lakh crore during the decade of UPA rule.

“It was as if they were punishing Nitish Kumar’s administration. After assuming power at the Centre, I put an end to that old politics of vengeance against Bihar,” he stated.

“In the last 10 years of NDA governance, the financial support for Bihar’s development has significantly increased compared to before,” PM Modi emphasized.

Additionally, in his speech, PM Modi highlighted the necessity for the current generation to understand the dire situation Bihar faced two decades ago.

“It is crucial for today’s youth to recognize the state of despair Bihar was in two decades ago. Under the governance of the RJD and Congress, development was halted, and funds intended for the poor never reached them. Those in authority only considered how to exploit the rights of the underprivileged,” he remarked.

Referring to Bihar as “a region of courageous individuals who transform the impossible into reality,” PM Modi stated, “You liberated this region from the constraints of RJD and Congress, making the impossible achievable. Consequently, today, welfare initiatives are directly benefiting the underprivileged in Bihar.”

Presenting statistics from welfare programs, the Prime Minister emphasized his administration’s commitment to enhancing women’s financial independence in Bihar.

“More than 3.5 crore women have opened bank accounts in Bihar. In the past year and a half, over 24,000 self-help groups have received assistance in Bihar amounting to Rs 1,000 crore. So far, there are over 20 Lakhpati Didis in Bihar,” he remarked.
