Over 20 schools in Delhi received bomb threats through email: Police

New Delhi: Over 20 schools in Delhi have received bomb threats through emails, officials reported on Friday. The police stated that the Richmond Global School, located in the Paschim Vihar area of Delhi, has indicated it received a bomb threat.

The Delhi police and fire department quickly responded to the scene after being informed about the bomb threats, according to the Department of Delhi Fire Services. An investigation is currently ongoing.

This incident follows a series of bomb threats received by nearly ten schools and one college in the national capital over the past three days, which led to police intervention and temporary school closures.

According to the police, the bomb threat letter stated, “Hello. I am writing to inform you that I have placed several explosive devices (trinitrotoluene) within the classrooms of the school. The explosives are cleverly concealed in black plastic bags. I will erase every last one of you from this world. Not a single soul will survive. I will take pleasure in watching the news, only to see the parents arrive at the school to be met with the cold, dismembered bodies of their children.”

“You all deserve to suffer. I truly hate my life; I will commit suicide after the news, slitting my throat and wrists. I have never received genuine help; psychiatrists, psychologists, no one has ever cared, and no one will ever care. You only focus on medicating the helpless and clueless. Psychiatrists never inform you that those medications damage your organs or cause significant weight gain. You brainwash individuals into believing psychiatric medications can assist them. But they do not. I am living proof that they do not. You all deserve this. You deserve to suffer just like I do,” the letter continued.

Earlier, on Wednesday morning, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya announced it would be closed for the day as per police advice.

According to officials, the schools that were threatened include St. Thomas School in Dwarka, Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj, The Mother’s International School in Hauz Khas, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate. In response to the alerts, personnel from the Delhi Police and the bomb disposal squad were dispatched to the school grounds. Fire tenders were also sent to the affected sites.

“Due to a potential bomb threat received this morning, and as per police advice, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya will be closed today, 16th July, 2025. A Bomb Disposal Squad is performing a complete sanitization of the premises. We will keep you informed,” stated Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in an email to the parents of enrolled students.

Officials reported that fire tenders and police teams were sent to St. Thomas School and Vasant Valley School after bomb threats were received via email. The Fire Department confirmed that nothing suspicious has been discovered.

Previously, St. Stephen’s College at the University of Delhi also received a bomb threat. The email indicated that a bomb had been placed in the library, according to officials.

The locations were evacuated, and the Delhi Police Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, Delhi Fire Brigade team, and Special Staff team are currently on-site. The area has been cordoned off, and a thorough AS check is underway. So far, the Delhi Police have reported no suspicious findings. The Delhi Police also mentioned that no other college has reported any similar threats to date.

On Monday, two schools in Chanakyapuri and the Dwarka area of Delhi also received bomb threats through the Delhi Police’s email. No explosives were discovered during the combing operation.
