After 1 crore jobs, Nitish Kumar has now pledged 125 units of free electricity per month ahead of Bihar Polls

In a significant step prior to the Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared on Thursday that all households in the state will receive free electricity for up to 125 units, effective August 1.

In a post on X, Nitish Kumar stated, “From the outset, we have ensured that electricity is accessible to everyone at reasonable rates. Now, we have resolved that starting from August 1, 2025 — which corresponds to the July billing cycle — all domestic consumers in the state will not incur any charges for up to 125 units of electricity.”

The Chief Minister further mentioned that this initiative will benefit approximately 1.67 crore families throughout Bihar.

Additionally, the Bihar CM assured that within the next three years, solar power panels will be installed on the rooftops of residents, pending their approval, to provide additional advantages.

“We have also committed to installing solar power plants on the rooftops of these domestic consumers or at nearby public locations within the next three years, after securing their consent,” he elaborated in the post.

This announcement followed Nitish Kumar’s approval of 30 significant proposals on Tuesday, which includes a plan to create employment for one crore youth over the next five years.

It is noteworthy that the decisions made by the Chief Minister ahead of the upcoming state elections later this year are perceived as a tactical response by the ruling NDA government to address the Opposition’s critiques.
